PICOPLUS^TMis a versatile, non-invasive, and US FDA-approved laser that can treat various skin pigmentation problems such as melasma, pigmentation and pigmented lesions, tattoos, acne and acne scars, age spots, freckles, uneven skin tone, and other difficult skin cases that do not respond to similar technologies. It is the most advanced Nd:YAG laser to date. Nd:YAG stands for Neodymium: yttrium-alumunium-garnet, and is a crystal used as a laser medium. The Nd:YAG laser is non-ablative, which means that it can heat tissue without destroying it. It can treat a wide range of skin problems such as spider veins, age spots, freckles, dark spots, and more. Compared to the current Q-switched Nd:YAG nanosecond pulse lasers that have been used for decades, the PICOPLUS^TM works in high power, quick, and short 450 picosecond laser pulses instead of nanosecond pulses, as longer pulse durations mean a higher risk of damaging the surrounding tissue and less efficacy in treatment. With short pulses in high energy, the pigment is destroyed into smaller pieces, making elimination faster, producing more visible results in every treatment, and allows for shorter sessions overall. in terms of color density, side effects, lack of power, and pain tolerance for the patient.
